There are TONS of these types of restaurants here. My absolute favorite place is Benihana.. But check out this link for yelp. They will help you find what is most convenient and affordable to you.

There's a place at E Chicago Ave and N State St that is fantastic. The food is always good (they cook it in front of you) and the prices are very reasonable. I always have a good time when I go. There really isn't a place like that in the city, you need to go to the burbs. You can try Fuji Japanese Steak House in Orland Park, it's outstanding. Or Benihana in Wheeling or Schaumburg.



The only place that I can think of in the city that cooks food in front of you is Fogo de Chao (which is more Brazilian).
Well it depends on where in Chicago you are looking for, but there is a place in the Gold Coast (230 E. Ontario) called Ron of Japan, it's excellent!!! It's very similar to Benihana, but since there aren't any Benihana's in the city, I would definitely recommend Ron of Japan!!!
In naperville theres is a place called Kiku and in Bloomingdale and Wheaton their is Domo 77.
There are a lot in the 'burbs.

Ron of Japan...there is more than one location...Gold Coast is one of the best though. Well worth the $$ you will spend
