How can I make garlic butter similar to the Kobe restaurants?

My friend and I would like to make the garlic butter that they serve at Kobe's or something similar to it. Kobe's is a japanese steakhouse where they cook in front of you.How can I make garlic butter similar to the Kobe restaurants?
The hibachi chefs at my old restaurant used to take minced garlic, saute it with a little butter, then blend it with more butter and put it in the cooler to re-harden.

What cheese would go best with this burger?

Holding a better-burger contest and I am planning on basting mine in that Japanese steakhouse white sauce. What cheese do you think would go best with this burger, without it being overpowering? What cheese would go best with this burger?
A spicy one :)
I think havarti. Its creamy and melts nicely, but doesn't overpower the seasoning in your meat. What cheese would go best with this burger?
Maybe Swiss or something spicy like pepper jack.

Japanese Steak House Question?

You know when you go to a japanese steakhouse house where they cook in front of you and you get 2 sauces with your meal. You get a shrimp sauce and I chicken or steak sauce. I was wondering if anyone knows where you can buy that sauce that they use. If you know of a place online that sells it could you let me know? Thank you very much.Japanese Steak House Question?
//www.mitsuwa.com/english/index.html
If you ask the restaurant they would probably sell it to you. That's probably your best bet since I know oriental restaurants tend to use ingredients delivered from their own country. My family had Loquats (a type of fruit) at a chinese restaurant and they sold us a big can cause you can only get them from China.Japanese Steak House Question?

  • Japanese Hibachi Ginger Sauce Recipe?

Hey guys i am desperately trying to find a recipe similar to those of a Japanese steakhouse. I know around here there is a place called Kyoto Express and Sapporros steakhouse that both serve these ginger sauces. I have looked every where online and tryed a few of the recipes none of them are even close to what i am looking for. The sauce is slightly sweet and it appears the ginger is very finely minced almost into a paste. Anyone know what I am looking for? Thanks!Japanese Hibachi Ginger Sauce Recipe?

    Authentic Japanese Restaurant?

Would a Japanese Steakhouse be considered to have REAL japanese food?Authentic Japanese Restaurant?
Yes, and they have Steakhouses in Japan too!

They also have Sobahouses that serve mostly soups, Sushihouses, of course and fast food.

There are many different authentic Japanese restaurant styles, more varied than here in America!

    .
I don't know about your particular restaurant, but the one's I have been to usually have a little real Japanese food. The very fact that it's a steak house means it is not centered on real Japanese food but on American tastes. However, some authentic food is offered and I have found it to be usually good.Authentic Japanese Restaurant?
yes. they have those all over japan. when i lived in okinawa i used to go to a jap steak house every sunday after church. it was so good too. i miss that place.

What's that Japanese Restaurant called when they cook in front of you?

Does anyone have a recipe for Japanese Steakhouse Style "Shrimp Sauce"?

It's a smooth pinkish / orange sauce - NONE of the recipes I've tried from online are correct. It does not have 'shrimp' in it. but it's a yummy sauce that you use to dip seafood in. It seems to have similar consistency to mayonaise but mayonaise itself seems too strong in flavor to be the main ingredient. If I had to guess what gives it it's color, I'd guess it's some type of miso paste. The recipes I've found with sugar, white pepper, ketchup etc...are NOT correct so please do not repost those here. Those of you who have had this sauce will know EXACTLY what I'm talking about :)Does anyone have a recipe for Japanese Steakhouse Style "Shrimp Sauce"?

    Japanese clear soup recipe?

I had a Japanese steakhouse. It was clear, had mushrooms, scallions and something with a little crunch. I don't remember exactly, but no carrots, celery or lemons in there. Any help?Japanese clear soup recipe?
Sounds like clear mushroom soup. The crunch was probably Japanese daikon (long white radish). Yum!

It typically contains thins slices of white radish, one or more types of mushrooms (white, shiitake, snowpuff) in a broth of hon-dashi. Hon-dashi (bonito) is Japanese fish stock, which can be found in pelleted powder form in almost any oriental food store.

Anyone know how to make Japanese Fried Rice?

Don't they make it in front of you? A lot of Japanese steakhouses do.

It's not difficult. You need pre-cooked rice, preferably cooked the previous day and cooled.

In a large pan, wok or griddle, melt a quarter stick of butter. When it is completely melted, add about 2 cups of cool rice and stir to coat. You can add vegetables at this point; peas, carrots..whatever you like.

You can do the egg completely separately, or like I do it; just beside the rice. I take an egg, beat it in a small bowl, then let it cook just like a scrambled egg and then fold it in to the rice. Season with soy sauce, oyster sauce, salt and pepper.

Many times, we'll never know the answer as to why we didn't get hired for a job we applied for. Employers will never tell if you ask why I didn't get hired because of fears of getting sued and because of privacy laws. Just because you didn't get hired doesn't mean that they didn't like you or that you weren't qualified. You just will never know the answer. With the weak economy, it's tougher than ever to get any type of job because there's more competition. Just be persistent and keep at your job search! Olive Garden.
I went to the Olive Garden and was not impressed. My husband and I spent 50 bucks on pasta. One dish each he had a beer and we both had soda. I could have cooked better pasta than they served us for a lot less than 50 dollars. Outback Steakhouse may be the same I do not know. If it's a date try cooking for them at your place. Alot more romantic.
I would pick a Japanese restaurant. Pick a nice restaurant where the food is different or Japanese fusion and the restaurant has a type of fun or romantic flare to it. You absolutely cannot go wrong with Japanese food; it always tastes good since the Japanese are such perfectionists, especially at a nicer restaurant.
    japanese or steak
Definitely the Olive Garden...... Just got back from vacation where we went to the Olive Garden the first evening with friends. It was great as usual. Everyone had a great time with good food.
Steakhouse. Men love steak and as far as Olive Garden, not so good, way over priced for the grease you get. Plus steakhouse is alot healthier than a bunch of carbs. you don't want to be way over stuffed with pasta. Gotta save room for dessert!

it's close, but I'll go with the Japanese Restaurant.
    Japanese
    Japanese--never been.

A GOOD Japanese restaurant over any of them, but Olive Garden is much better than Outback Steakhouse.
I LOVE the Olive Garden their breadsticks alone keep me coming back
Japanese Restaurant!! Beside loving sushi I like how it's very zen and quiet and peaceful.
Outback for sure. They are consistent and make your steaks the way you order them.
as long as your buying Ill follow
Better Idea! Make it three dates, one at each and we're good to go!
Olive garden, more chances that your date will like food there then japanese, and if they are a vegetarian or something, outback steakhouse is a no.
If it's for a date, definitely Olive Garden. It's quieter and more calm. :-) Outback Steakhouse has better food though. Lol.
Outback has the best Coca Cola ever in life!! I dont know what they put in that stuff....but man!!!!! thats my choice...LETS GO!!
    Olive Garden..you buying ?
mmmm! olive garden! im not to fond of sushie or outback steakhouse, but i love the pastas and bread sticks and olive garden! yummy!
    japanese- way healthier
Japanese, sushi, and the hibachi... Ymm!

but my next xchoice would beOutback, Bloomin onion baby!!
    japanese for sure
olive garden cant go wrong with italian
I'd either go to Olive Garden or a Japanese Restaurant. 1) Olive Garden is Italian and Italian food is good. The atmosphere in there is pretty calm and what's that word for dates... romantic? *cough* 2) Japanese food is delicious! And healthy. I think, but it's really delicious x 1000000... Well I think those are good. :D Good luck!
Japanese restaurant, hands down! I suggest Yamashiro, which is expensive, but the beautiful romantic setting, and the delicious food (though it is a bit on the small side) is guaranteed to set the right mood. And if you don't like Japanese cuisine, then they also have classics like the New York Steak as well as much, much more. So, if you've got the coin to spare, this is the place for you.
Depends how much money I got. I like Japanese but it's usually an easy 50 bucks. In my reality Olive Garden.
    JAPANESE!!

outback is my second choice but japanese is by far the most entertaining and delicious resturaunt.
A girlfriend of mine dragged me off to the OutBack one night! Wow - I could not believe how lousy that place was. The food was terrible. We have a junky bar in town with a fry cook and he cooks better than those people. AND EXPENSIVE!

Never been to the Olive Garden - we don't have one. But somebody said it was a lousy place to eat as well.
Any date, any time I would go to an independently run Japanese restaurant. Those awful chain restaurants have insanely bad food and really annoying fake ambiance. I have yet to be able to eat more than one bite of anything I've ever ordered at an Outback (when my parents drag me because they have very white trash palates).
I would want to go to a Japanese restaurant, but I would actually rather go to a Chinese restaurant! But that's not a choice so what I said before is my answer.
For a date I'd go to a 1) Japanese place or 2) Olive Garden...Outback is more of a place I'd go to with a casual group

Maybe steak if it's their specialty, it should be above average at a 'Steak House' of any type. Either that or some sushi(if you eat at the bar).
Ask them what their most popular item is
A Japanese Steakhouse? If it is something cool with knife, then I would assume that it is a teppanyaki place. In that case, you might want to order a combo of steak with seafood. If it is a true Japanese Steakhouse, I would definitely splurge on a Kobe Beef Steak.
Are you rich? If you are loaded then order Kobe beef. Cost around $100USD per pound
Kobe or Wagyu beef. Expensive though.

  • Does anyone know the ingredients of the salad dressing at ShoGuns? (The Japanese Steakhouse)?

I love it too. I don't think this is the exact recipe, but this recipe is for Japanese ginger salad dressing, just like at Shogun's.

    INGREDIENTS:

    * 2 tbsps rice wine vinegar

    * 3 tbsps vegetable oil

    * 1 tbsp sesame oil

    * 1 tbsp soy sauce

    * 1/2 tsp sugar

    * 1 tsp sake

    * 1 tsp grated ginger

    PREPARATION:

Mix all the ingredients other than oil in a bowl. Add oil gradually into a bowl and mix well.

    *Makes 2 servings

A lot of Japanese and Korean restaurants use wasabi in their dressings(especially in Japan ,China and Korea) but I'm sure that Shogun doesn't. It's a ginger dressing if I'm not mistaken.Does anyone know the ingredients of the salad dressing at ShoGuns? (The Japanese Steakhouse)?
If you are looking for the shrimp salad dressing it is really easy to make.

Take a plain mayonaise and stir it till it becomes thin (adding a little water and a pinch of salt helps)

You can go to the Mexican spices isle or to a Mexican store and get ground dried shrimp.

Add a tblsp to half cup of mayonaisse with a pinch of salt, garlic powder, a pinch of powdered ginger, and fresh ground black pepper. Also one tsp of ketchup to give it more of a pink color and voila! Shrimp dressing or Shrimp sauce if you prefer.

What exactly is that "secret sauce" served at Japanese steakhouses?

If any of you have been to Japanese steakhouse where they cook in front of you, they give you two different types of sauces. One ginger sauce and one "secret sauce." I dont know if thats what its called but that is what they call it at my steakhouse. Its sort of an orange color. I think anchovies might be an ingredient.

And please dont tell me that you think that it might be Thousand island dressing! ThanksWhat exactly is that "secret sauce" served at Japanese steakhouses?
It would probably be more helpful if you gave us an idea of what it tastes like....but the fact that you insinuated it might look like Thousand Island Dressing, this sauce could actually be homemade T.O. dressing. There is a special Japanese mayonnaise that tastes fairly different from American brands, that have more of a "fresh" flavor (don't know how to describe it). It's sold in large tube pouch, has a red cap, and has a picture of a baby on it and it's sometimes translated into "Kewpie" on the shelf, as the baby looks like a Kewpie doll. They would then probably add in some ginger and relish, maybe some ketchup. Bonito flakes could be adding that fish flavour you describe.

I'm not sure. But if it was a hot mustard it is made with wasabi paste and some soy and white vinegar. Wasabi paste is like clay almost (in texture) you simply take a piece and stir it into the soy/vinegar mixture.

  • How to eat healthier at a japanese restaurant?

I'm going to a japanese steakhouse where they cook in front of you tonight. I dont eat red meat, so I'll probably be getting chicken and shrimp. Is there anyway to eat healthier? Anything I should or shouldnt eat?

Thanks. How to eat healthier at a japanese restaurant?
Get grilled chicken (yakitori) if you can, and I agree that it's healthier than shrimp. Steamed rice is better than fried rice, of course, and ease up on the soy sauce. Chances are, the meat is well-seasoned already.

But why don't you try some sushi or sashimi? In a lot of habachi restaurants, they prepare sushi in a separate place within the restaurant. You can still order it, though. But do be prepared for the habachi chef to throw some shrimp at you.

I don't think it can get healthier than raw fish, though opt for salmon instead of tuna or eel, which are fatty. Also, stay away from the sushi rolls with mayonnaise-based sauces (any of the "spicy" rolls)
Typically, these places use oil and butter to cook the food. You could request not to have yours cooked with butter or just very little. Aside from that, everything else is very healthy. How to eat healthier at a japanese restaurant?
Shrimp is NOT healthy. While it's lower in fat, it's got an astronomical cholesterol content.

I guess you can go w/ chicken then. Don't let them fry it in butter, and don't overdo the rice.
Your meal will undoubtedly be healthful: grilled chicken and shrimp with vegetables, rice -- ask for brown! -- miso soup, salad and green tea to drink.

    Sounds good to me. Enjoy!
Get steamed rice instead of fried rice.

Have any sauces that come with your food served on the side, instead of cooking the food in it and then don't use them.
    Eat Sushi and Sashimi !!!

How to recreate Japanese Steakhouse rice...?

With a big family, it's hard to go out to eat at the japanese steakhouse (mainly Miyabi Kyoto here) so we like to make it at home. We have a cooktop grill, but sometimes the rice comes out too mushy and flavorless. What I've been doing is just boiling it for 1/4 of time it says on the box and then transferring it to the cooktop for the duration and adding soy sauce and salt and pepper. I asked the chef last time what he was squirting on it and he said it was just soy. So why is mine not as tasty as theirs???How to recreate Japanese Steakhouse rice...?

What is a Japanese steakhouse grill called and how can i build one?

I was recently at a local Japanese steakhouse called Jo-To (similar to Benihana i believe) where they cook in front of you on what is essentially a giant grill built into the table. I was wondering if anyone knew what this table/grill is called and even better would be links to places that could show me how to build one of my own.

I have read that it is called a teppanyaki table and that people often mistake it for a hibachi grill which is actually more like a charcoal grill.

Any help with building one would be greatly appreciated!

    Thanks,

BrantWhat is a Japanese steakhouse grill called and how can i build one?
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hibachi

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Teppanyaki

The two links will show you which is which and you would probably need a potter to make the Hibachi or similar, but to make a Tappenyaki table you would probably need to fashion a hot plate and incorporate it into a table of some type, that is heat resistant. At that stage you would need to arrange the gas burners on the underside in a manner that wouldn't affect the table.

I would begin to experimet with a piece of steel on top of my gas grill and see how it went from there.Using the gas power controls you could have part as a hot plate and another part as a warmer.

I use an 8 " square one like this.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Grillp鈥?/a>
    you can buy them

    they are basically commercial GRIDDLES

you can get actual teppanyaki talbes but they are more expensive, and basically the same thing.

you don't actually make them, its like asking how you build a stove

you can also get a mongolian grill, which is basically the same thing, just usually in a circular shape, which i actually think is more entertaining. What is a Japanese steakhouse grill called and how can i build one?
TEPPANYAKI GRILL Table. You will need adjustable electrical heating elements, a glass top table with an inlay display area made of a material that can take the heat, %26amp; a one eigth inch thick piece of stainless steel cut to match the size of the glass table top inlay. Install the heating elements in the inlay display area. Place the sheet steel over the heating elements where the glass would go. You should be ready to grill.

A vent hood might be a good idea too.

Japanese Steakhouse....okay to eat at during pregnancy?

Mom says its full of salt and might not be a good idea. But I've been craving it a long time and if I get off of limited activity in time to go to the play we have tickets too I want to eat at our Japanese Steakhouse...its pricy but so goodJapanese Steakhouse....okay to eat at during pregnancy?
iv eaten at a Japanese Steakhouse...hmm probably about 5 times through my pregnancy. I love it, its sooo yummy, i go to the one where they cook the food in front of you.

    HMM NOW I WANT SOME!!!
Unless you have a heart condition, salt isn't bad for you. You actually need some salt in your diet to ensure you get enough iodine. I'd say go for it...eating at a Japanese steak house is no different from eating anywhere else while pregnant. And I don't notice the food being any saltier than anywhere else. :) If anything, it's healthier than most other restaurants because all the food is lean (white meat chicken, well trimmed steak, etc.) and it's cooked on a nearly dry grill with very little oil. They also serve you lots of vegetables, and you can get brown rice instead of white, if you want. Tell your mom to mind her own business.Japanese Steakhouse....okay to eat at during pregnancy?
As long as you don't eat sushi, or shrimp then you will be fine, once is not gonna hurt you even if it does have salt, I eat at our local japanese steak house all the time, I just eat the chicken.
Its not wise to eat like that all the time, but once should be fine. You can expect to have some swelling afterwards though. Just keep your feet up and drink plenty of water! Best wishes and have fun!
If you aren't having trouble with high blood pressure or swelling then you should be ok just once. If your doctor has told you to watch your salt intake then you probably shouldn't.

  • What is Kobe's Japanese Steakhouse Like?

I know about how the chefs cook in front of you but what i want to know is what food will be served? My brother says that they give you some food before the actual entree but what I want to know is what food they cook for you before the actual meal? What is Kobe's Japanese Steakhouse Like?
Yum. It's been several years since I've been to Kobe as last time I went I got food poisining from the chicken. But with most Japanese Steak houses, they serve you like a selection of sauteed veggies (bean sprouts, carrots, onions, squash, etc.), and a small bowl of fried shrimp. However - before the meal, you get a bowl of miso or broth soup, and a salad. Then comes the cook with the food and you also get a bowl of rice. usually they have a couple selection of different sauces you can put on your rice and your food. Then he cooks your meal (whatever you pick - teriyaki steak, chicken, shrimp, lobster, scallops, etc). Then after the meal you usually get 1 scoop of like sherbet ice cream. Its alot of food and its GREAT! This is my favorite type of restauraunt.
Oh - and when they do the shrimp before the entree - they like to squish a few and throw them at the guests to catch in their mouth. Plus most chefs make a fire. They like stack a few onions, put lots of oil in it and light it up so its like a volcano. Pretty cool

What is the chef called at a japanese steakhouse?

Even there aren't a name for them in US but if you are in japan, you can call them "master". (a respect for their showmanship)

But I do want take this chance to clarify a few thing.

The form of teppanyaki most familiar to North Americans consists of steak and other meats, along with vegetable accompaniments. But In Japan, teppanyaki may also refer to any of a number of dishes cooked using a teppan, including okonomiyaki, yakisoba, and monjayaki, frequently with the hot plate located in the center of the diners' table.

The originator of the teppanyaki-style steakhouse is the Japanese restaurant chain Misono, which introduced the concept of cooking Western-influenced food on a teppan in Japan in 1945.

They soon found that the cuisine was even more popular with foreigners than with the Japanese, who enjoyed both watching the skilled maneuvers of the chefs preparing the food as well as the cuisine, somewhat more familiar than more traditional Japanese dishes.

As the restaurants became more popular tourist spots with non-Japanese, the chain introduced changes increasing the performance aspect of the chef's preparation, such as stacking round slices of onion in the shape of Mt. Fuji and lighting oil contained within on fire, producing a flaming onion volcano.

In the United States, teppanyaki was made famous by the Benihana restaurant chain which opened its first restaurant in New York in 1964. Benihana and other chains of teppanyaki steakhouses continue to place an emphasis on the chef performing a show for the diners, continuing to introduce new variations and tricks.

As you can see Japan's teppanyaki-style steakhouse have been porpular since 1945, which is 22 years before it become porpular in USWhat is the chef called at a japanese steakhouse?

    nagano...........................hehehhe
Edo's Japanese Steakhouse is really good. Great food and drinks...the sushi is excellent if you are into that kind of food...and the steaks are awesome as well...perfectly cooked and flavored.

Kobe Steaks is also really good...one of my all time favs in the area. There are seven separate, beautifully decorated rooms, each accommodating twenty diners, where the talented chefs create magic and mesmerize diners with hibachi style cooking. The finest steaks, seafood and chicken are all prepared to order and artistically presented right in front of your eyes. Absolutely some of the best in the ATL!

The place the others have suggested is not bad either. But if you want something really good that you'll remember and want to revisit, then try Edo's or Kobe. I love Kobe so I know you won't be disappointed.

Fusion Japanese steakhouse.. hmmm.. must be a trendy one with good decoration and services, then I would estimate it would cost youUS$150 up per person... depends on how much wine / sake you ordered and also whether you order Kobe beef...

If you order Kobe beef steak it would be more than US$250 per person

If you ordered only typical Japanese food and no wine/sake, it could be cut down to US$100 per person. What would the average cost be for 2 people at the fusion japanese steakhouse if both order a pretty full meal?

    .INGREDIENTS

    2 teaspoons dashi granules

    4 cups water

    3 tablespoons miso paste

1 (8 ounce) package silken tofu, diced

2 green onions, sliced diagonally into 1/2 inch pieces

    ..DIRECTIONS

1.In a medium saucepan over medium-high heat, combine dashi granules and water; bring to a boil. Reduce heat to medium, and whisk in the miso paste. Stir in tofu. Separate the layers of the green onions, and add them to the soup. Simmer gently for 2 to 3 minutes before serving.

~"Dashi is a basic stock used in Japanese cooking which is made by boiling dried kelp (seaweed) and dried bonito (fish). Instant dashi granules are sold in conveniently-sized jars or packets and vary in strength. Add more dashi to your soup if you want a stronger stock. You can use yellow, white or red miso paste for this soup. Yellow miso is sweet and creamy, red miso is stronger and saltier."

What is the white sauce called you get at kobi's Japanese steakhouse? ?

It's the one you get in the little dipping cupsWhat is the white sauce called you get at kobi's Japanese steakhouse? ?
    Japanese Steakhouse White Sauce

    1-1/4 cup Hellmann's mayonnaise *
    1/4 cup water
    1 teaspoon tomato paste
    1 tablespoon melted butter
    1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
    1 teaspoon sugar
    1/4 teaspoon paprika
    dash cayenne pepper

Using a fork or a whisk, blend all ingredients together thoroughly until well mixed and the sauce is smooth. Refrigerate overnight to allow flavors to blend. Bring to room temperature before serving.

The sauce will NOT taste right if you don't let it sit overnight. And please don't try to substitute ketchup for the tomato paste! The water is needed to bring this to the right consistency.

I don't know how long this keeps in the refrigerator; I've kept it 7-10 days, but I always wind up eating it all before 10 days so after that - anyone's guess.

    * Hellmann's is called "Best Foods" west of the Rockie Mountains. Use other mayos at your peril - many cheap brands make the sauce taste too much like mayo.

Kobe beef can get very $$$ and it's usually onlly offered at a yakiniku style steakhouse. Basically, there are 2 types of Japanese steakhouses: yakiniku or teppanyaki. Yakiniku is where you cook the meat yourself on the table. An inlaid grill is on each table and it's usually for smaller dining parties, such as 2 or 4 per table so each party can cook their own meat.

Teppanyaki is similar to yakiniku in that the meat is cooked right before your eyes, but with teppanyaki, you sit at a large sized dining table (like an 8 or 10 seater) and there is 1 chef per table who will cook the order for you. The grill is attached to one side of the table, so it's almost like watching a show since you are sitting on the other side of the grill. Sometimes if you go to a teppanyaki style restaurant and there are only 2 of you, they will seat you with other guests as all of the tables are the large ones. With teppanyaki, it's a flat style grill, the kind restaurants use where as yakiniku is usually more like a bbq style (grill with slits).

Yakiniku will usually offer many different kinds of Japanese meat and different cuts/selections. They may offer the famous Kobe beef, as yakiniku style beef is cut very thin and small portions. Typically you will order 2-3 plates of meat per person. Kobe can get $$$, but it's probably worth it to try at least once. A cheaper alternative is the Washu Gyu - it is a lot less expensive but made to taste just like Kobe.

A teppanyaki style steakhouse will usually have more regular style cuts of meat, like steak, chicken or shrimp. At this kind of restaurant, just order whichever meat you like, as the cut will be what is normal by American standards like NY strip steak or ribeye steak. What to eat at a Japanese steakhouse?

Go with mooshisho's answer. Japanese mayo doesn't taste like ours, and it's not as thick either. Plus they use it on all kinds of food you wouldn't really picture using mayonnaise on, which is probably why you're doubting it's mayo.

There really isn't a place like that in the city, you need to go to the burbs. You can try Fuji Japanese Steak House in Orland Park, it's outstanding. Or Benihana in Wheeling or Schaumburg.

The only place that I can think of in the city that cooks food in front of you is Fogo de Chao (which is more Brazilian).
Well it depends on where in Chicago you are looking for, but there is a place in the Gold Coast (230 E. Ontario) called Ron of Japan, it's excellent!!! It's very similar to Benihana, but since there aren't any Benihana's in the city, I would definitely recommend Ron of Japan!!!

Has Anyone been to Shogun Hibachi and sushi japanese steakhouse?

and what exactly is dollar sushi night?

I love sushi, but with this economy crunch, Its hard to to go as often as I would like. Thank you very much for your help! Very much appreciated!Has Anyone been to Shogun Hibachi and sushi japanese steakhouse?
Yes i've been there. in fact i used to work there. Dollar sushi night consist of "sashimi" style sushi which is just the sushi without rice or soy paper. they are pretty good if you get the spicy tuna, yellowtail, or salmon and mix the wasabi with the soy sauce. I would personally reccomend the shaggy dog thought which is a guest favorite. Its kami kama (crab) on top with shrimp tempura and cucumbers on the inside. Its very good but i would advice you to try a dinner and just let the sushi compliment your meal. You can sit at the hibachi grill and watch them cook your food. Its good for a show and prices usually range in the 20-30s.Has Anyone been to Shogun Hibachi and sushi japanese steakhouse?
I'm not too fond of the Shogun. Everytime I went there, I felt sick afterwards and they don't have much selection on their menu. Havn't been to Sushi Japanese though.

Healthy food at a Japanese steakhouse?

I'm on a strict diet right now and was wondering if what I'm planning to get tonight at the restaurant is ok for my diet. What I was going to get is Miso Soup, one avocado roll and one salmon roll. Is this healthy?Healthy food at a Japanese steakhouse?
Yes, but the miso soup has alot of sodium. You can replace it with a cucumber or seaweed salad. If you're just concerned about calories, your plan sounds healthy.
If you're on such a strict diet, why are you going to a steakhouse?

If you don't have choice, keep the following in mind:

    * Get steamed rice, not fried.

    * Miso soup is fairly healthy but high in sodium (most Japanese food is - can't escape it.)

    * Get the chicken or salmon - grilled, no sauce (or just sauce on the side.)Healthy food at a Japanese steakhouse?
Miso Soup normally contains enormous amount of sodium, I would suggest as the person above me suggested to get seaweed salad.

Or I would just ask to get delicate stir fry of vegetables.
Sushi seems healthy, but most people eat too much of it in one sitting. Two rolls is a bit much for one person in my opinion.

I'd get the salmon teriyaki. Get it with brown rice if they have it.

Where can I find general nutrition values for a Japanese steakhouse?

The best thing to do is to ask the restaurant for it. If they don't supply it, then the best you can do is use the national nutrient database or books on nutritional values of food at your library to calculate them yourself.Where can I find general nutrition values for a Japanese steakhouse?
If this restaurant is a franchise, you may wish to ask the manager of the establishment if they have any documentation regarding the nutritional information for the items on their menu.

Some states have legislation that requires "chain restaurants" or "franchises" to supply that information upon request.

the show is part of the price,so you have to take that into consideration.a talented hibachi chef can be quite entertaining. the meal will consist of a few courses -but in small enough portions that you can enjoy them all usually a small miso soup followed by seaweed salad then your choice of a seafood,beef/pork or poultry served with fried rice .if you've never gone then i suggest you give it a try -but i'm not so sure about valentines day at most japanese steakhouses you sit around the grill and they fill up the all seats ,so privacy or romance isn't part of the deal.

Yes you really should go, and definitely go for Valentine's Day. My boyfriend of two years took me there for our first date, and then when I was sick on my birthday, he went and waited for them to do the show and prepare if for 45 minutes just so he could get it to go and bring it home to me. It's the PERFECT place to go for a date. Many of the places with try and throw a piece of chicken or something in your mouth, and get you to catch it. It's a lot of fun. The ONLY downside is that you're often placed around a table with strangers. But if you're in love, then you won't even notice the people around you.

Japanese Steakhouse White Sauce - Easy Recipe

    1-1/4 cup Hellmann's mayonnaise *

    1/4 cup water

    1 teaspoon tomato paste

    1 tablespoon melted butter

    1/2 teaspoon garlic powder

    1 teaspoon sugar

    1/4 teaspoon paprika

    dash cayenne pepper

Using a fork or a whisk, blend all ingredients together throughly until well mixed and the sauce is smooth. Refrigerate overnight to allow flavors to blend. Bring to room temperature before serving.

The sauce will NOT taste right if you don't let it sit overnight. And please don't try to substitute ketchup for the tomato paste! The water is needed to bring this to the right consistency.

    * Hellmann's is called "Best Foods" west of the Rockie Mountains. Use other mayos at your peril - many cheap brands make the sauce taste too much like mayo.

  • My niece and I were invited to a Japanese steakhouse. Should we go?

Would they have noodles on their menu? I often make these zucchini noodle strips from home, and I add in a raw pasta sauce. My niece absolutely loves them! Would they have something similar there? I have had bad experiences with Asian waiters so I'm a little bit reluctant this time.My niece and I were invited to a Japanese steakhouse. Should we go?
    Veggie tempura. Yum!!!

Most Asian cultures embrace vegetarian entrees and sides, including the Japanese. Don't feel ostracized there, as I am sure you will both find something to your liking, and they will be happy to cook for you. You'll have a great time and eat some great food.

Don't forget to tip your Hibachi chef!
I'm vegan and half Japanese. If you're just vegetarian, then you're fine. There should be enough salads and veggie dishes, but there may not be. The last time I went to those places, I had quite a time finding anything without meat that was substantial enough to eat. If you're vegan, then I'd be cautious. Japanese put fish flakes as seasoning in everything. So if it's real Japanese chefs and recipes, then you're gonna end up eating animal products. It's in the soups, sauces, and entrees. Not to mention the MSG! That is why I just make it myself or turn a blind eye at Japanese restaurants. I would say noodles at a steakhouse is highly unlikely. Japanese love to put a creamy dressing on salads so you better ask what dressing they serve. If possible, ask for Japanese dressing (wafu, oil based with sesame seeds) or just ponzu sauce (citrus flavored soy sauce). My niece and I were invited to a Japanese steakhouse. Should we go?
If it is an authentic Japanese steakhouse then it should be awesome. Japanese waiters are extremely polite and hardworking. The problem is that many restaurants just slap the title "Japanese" onto their store signs so that they can charge more for the food. Also, the food and ways of preparing it are completely non-Japanese at these fake places.

(If they start throwing silverware and tossing food in your mouth with a spatula, you're not in an authentic one. haha)
There has never been anything similar zucchini noodle strips with raw pasta sauce served at any Japanese steakhouse I've been to. If you're raw vegan, you can order a side salad (ginger dressing is often mostly raw, and the salad at these places never has cheese, egg, meat, etc) And ask for the teppanyaki vegetables plain and raw instead of cooked on the grill. There is often fresh fruit available. That would be pretty much it. I would look for the menu online, or call the restaurant and ask for any menu options that would be appropriate for you.
If you are 100% Raw the Steak house is tough. I went to 1 last night for my Grand-lass' Natal Day: I had Veggie Sushi, Salad, Onion Soup %26amp; Stir fried Veggie with steamed rice. Fried Rice has egg in it. They have other Veggie dishes, Veggie Tempura was one I was considering: Battered deep Fried Vegetables the batter in just flour %26amp; water(no egg)

LOL my waiter was not Asian but my Chef was.
i think they're overrated. I think they're expensive and the food really isn't that good. Don't get me wrong, it's decent food and it's fun to see the chef work his magic, but one time is enough. It's alright, but if you've been there and no, they don't have that zucchini noodle dish.
You should go. They will have many vegetarian/vegan dishes for you to enjoy. Ask for a wholesome carrot sesame salad, they are great.
If you have questions about the menu than why not call an have your questions answered. I have only been once but did enjoy it.
Call them and ask about their menu.
Go if you have nothing to do or if you wanna try the food their?

Yes, most Japanese places I go to just have a simple iceberg lettuce salad with some type of creamy miso dressing. What is in the salad at the Japanese steakhouse is it just lettuce?

They should have their menu on their website with prices, but I'd figure on at least $20-25/person - more if you're going to order alcohol.

Sushi in Michigan isn't cheap, and Japanese steakhouses are never cheap.Dose shogun japanese steakhouse food cost alot?
no matter where you go, if you buy steak its expensive.

If its a high quality restaurant its moderate to expensive.

So going to the japanese steakhouse knowing that even if you go to a decent priced sushi place, sushi is still expensive hands down.

This sauce is almost a light pink whitish color it varies depending on the restaurant and you usually have two small dipping dishes in front of you one for soy sauce and one for shrimp sauce. I just recently moved from Florida to California and apparently NOBODY has this sauce or knows what I am talking about. This sauce is all over the East Coast how can there not be any on the west coast? There has to be another name for it out here. Because you asked, here it is:

    Japanese Shrimp Sauce

This is the shrimp sauce found in Japanese steakhouses. It is sweet and pinkish-orange in color. You can substitute fat-free mayo, butter, and 0-calorie sugar, and it still tastes great.

Does anybody know the prices for the Resturant Wasabi Japanese Steakhouse on the Strip?

Me, My boyfriend and My Bestie and her Boyfriend want to go out there but were not sure of the prices does anybody know the prices for the food there?Does anybody know the prices for the Resturant Wasabi Japanese Steakhouse on the Strip?
not personally, but if you find their internet page you can call or email them and ask
    "the Strip" of what?

REMBMER this is an international site, so alway give cities/locations and not nicknames

in the US, the most common location for "the Strip" is Las Vegas... and doing searches I find no restaurant called Wasabi in Vegas... there is a restaurant called Thai Wasabi鈥? but its not on the stripDoes anybody know the prices for the Resturant Wasabi Japanese Steakhouse on the Strip?
Are you on a site that says, "New York Answers" or "London Answers"? No, you're on a site that's for EVERY COUNTRY AND CITY WORLDWIDE. Think before you post.

If you were in my city, you could be referring to one of two Wasabi restaurants that serve steak, so the price could be $15.99-18.99, or at the alternate restaurant, $24.99 for their buffet.

Recipe for mushrooms like they serve at a Japanese Steakhouse?

Does anyone have a recipe for this? I am not sure how you'd describe them, but its just like marinated button mushrooms that they cook on the grill. We had them as an appetizer. The only really obvious ingredients I can really detect are soy or teriyaki sauce and black pepper.

Sorry, it probably sounds like an idiot wrote this but I don't know how else to describe thisRecipe for mushrooms like they serve at a Japanese Steakhouse?
saute with teriyaki, chopped garlic, pepper, a tiny bit of salt, and mandarin hot oil.

How do you make rice like they have at the House of Japan, Genji, or Japanese Steakhouse?

    I really want to know.

Thanx =]How do you make rice like they have at the House of Japan, Genji, or Japanese Steakhouse?
You want medium or short grain rice. Short grain or sushi rice is stickier than medium grain rice.

You can find it at grocery stores w/ a large ethnic foods section, Japanese/Asian markets or large grocery chains like Whole Foods.

It is available in small %26amp; large quantities in CA.

A rice cooker is convenient but not necessary.

Check to make sure it is not sweet rice which tends to become very glutinous %26amp; is used for rice cakes %26amp; desserts.

It's not the cooker - it's the rice itself.

What you find in American supermarkets is long grain white rice, or *broken* long grain white rice. It's nice and white, nice and fluffy, nice and tasteless.

What gets eaten in the orient is short-grain or medium-grain rice. One or the other is used for sticky rice and for risotto, and for just about every authentic oriental dish.

Head for an oriental grocery store. I have lots of trouble getting help there. It's not that they aren't helpful, but we don't speak the same languages. I try to puzzle out what's on the shelf from bizarre descriptions; sometimes I get what I want, and sometimes, I end up with something I have to figure out how to use. That can be good or bad, but I limit how often I do it, because I don't like starving three days in a row. (grin).

Anyhow, they have lots of different kinds of rice. Unfortunately, most of them are 10 pound packages or larger, which is kinda wasteful, if you're just trying to see what each kind is like. Oh, well, my dog loves rice. I think most dogs really like rice.

I suppose you could ask the chef at one of those restaurants what kind of rice he uses.....How do you make rice like they have at the House of Japan, Genji, or Japanese Steakhouse?
The best way to get that kind of rice would be to purchase a rice cooker. I have one at home and love it. Although the rice only lasts for about 2 days it's delicious!
