on every corner they have one try over on the South SideIm looking for a really good restaurant to eat at for dinner in pittsburgh, pa. any suggestions. ?
You have to eat at Primanti Brothers. It is THE quintessential Pittsburgh restaurant... not to mention they invented "Pittsburgh Style" which is french fries on just about anything... sandwiches, salads, etc. If you want to experience a REAL Pittsburgh vibe and great food - this is the place.
Primanti's is someplace you have to go, but it isn't good -- it's just unique.

For someplace GOOD go to the Grand Concourse, Morton's or Sushi Kim.
For casual dining, check out Primanti's in the Strip District, The Original Hot Dog Shop in Oakland, or Fathead's in the South Side (especially if you love good burgers and microbrews).

But if you are looking for great restaurants, Pittsburgh is loaded with those too. Pittsburgh's best restaurant is usually considered to be La Mont on Mt. Washington.

But I'd also definitely recommend Nakama on the South Side at Carson and 17th. They do Hibachi Japanese and have the best sushi in Pittsburgh. They are a little over-priced though.

The cultural district and down town have a bunch of options, my favorites being Bravo Franco for Italian, right across the street from Heinz hall, and the Common Plea, on Smithfield St. It's the main hangout for all of the lawyers and judges from the courthouse; thus the name.

Over in Station Square you have Grand Concourse which used to be the old Train Station. It is both extravagant and elegant. In general, just a wonderful environment with some of Pittsburgh's best food too.

And for dessert, it's hard to recommend anything other than Gullifty's in Squirrel Hill. It's considered year in and year out to have Pittsburgh's best desserts.

And if breakfast is on your mind, check out Pamela's in the Strip District. It's wonderful.
