Is it possible to afford an apartment while living in college?

I'm planning on starting school at a local college for 2 years, and commuting from my home during that time, which should save some money considering I will get all my food, toiletries, heating, and most clothes from my parents. Then, after the 2 years I'm planning on going to the University of Pittsburgh to finish my schooling, which is 4 more years. I don't want to live in a dorm, but, if I shared an apartment with a friend and we spilt all the bills in half, could I afford living in an apartment in Pittsburgh? I would obviously have a job, probably at a restaurant or retail store. Do you think I could afford it? Do you have any tips on how to cut back on food/clothing purchases so I can afford to live in an apartment? Is it possible to afford an apartment while living in college?
you can definitely do it with a roommie. your biggest expense (other than rent) is gonna be goin' out. keep your nightlife under control and you can afford to live pretty well.

don't eat out. cook. it's healthier, too

good luck =)
Thanks for the points, buddy!!! =)

Here are some current roommate/apt share listings in Pittsburgh, courtesy of Craigslist.

Probably a reasonable representation of what it would cost you. Otherwise, go to the apartment listings and see what they go for, and then imagine splitting those rents with someone.
Good luck.
Yes. You definitely have to have a roomate. I think you'll be fine.
